There are times when many of us see something we want to wear but are not too sure how to. This can be very frustrating, when you see someone else wearing something the same or very similar and yet they manage to carry it off. For anyone who has seen someone trying to be a Fashionista but looks like a fashion victim then they did NOT follow these rules of how to wear statement jewellery.
We have given you the safest rules to follow and explain step by step how you can wear statement jewellery. This season we have seen nothing but statement jewellery completing a designers outfit and at points being the main focal point. By wearing statement jewellery you are being very “now” when it comes to fashion. You can find them most places now – but be warned they will have been duplicated in high street stores, yes they are sometimes cheaper to get a quick fashion fix, but then you will run the risk of someone else wearing the same piece of jewellery… and who really wants that!
So follow our very well studied and thought out rules on how to wear statement jewellery and you can be sure to be on the right path to looking fabulous and not a fashion disaster.
Rule#1 Don’t be fooled into thinking having a big rock around your neck is the way to go. Having a larger stone can sometimes make it look fake or faker than it already is.
Rule # 2: Keeping large pieces of jewellery looking great and not tacky just takes a little know how. Remember; keep it as simple as possible. If you’re wearing an statement necklace, say large pearls for instance, keep the rest of your jewellery more delicate. And,try to keep your outfit subtle. Wearing all black would look great, if you add a large coral necklace or an oversized black pearl long necklace. The possibilities are endless if you have a one block canvass to start with. And dont ever OVER accessorise as this will make you look like you’re trying to hard.
Rule # 3: Dont over do it on prints when you wear large pieces of jewellery. You are already drawing lots of attention to that and you don’t want your outfit to be too loud, by combining loud prints and massive jewelry (which will attract unwanted attention to yourself= you+statement jewellery+too much print= FASHION VICTIM). Bold jewellery looks great when it is displayed as the centerpiece and the attention grabber (much like people use a fire place as a focal point in a room, or have a wall one bold colour). White, beige, black or solid colors would create a fabulous backdrop for your jewelry.
What Not to Do
Don’t wear a bunch of large pieces at once (i.e. a bold necklace, bracelet, earrings). It’s too much all at once. Just think Pat Butcher and that should help you put a stop to it all!
Don’t just go for new. Go for vintage. Some of the best “statement” jewellery pieces can be found for cheap at vintage or thrift stores. Aged pieces tend to have lots of character and pizzazz and can say a lot about your personality. Not to mention, it’s much easier on your pocketbook.
Don’t be afraid of color. This can be the most fun, whether you choose a stone or a beaded necklace with a splash of red or green. It doesn’t matter if the stones are real or faux; the larger size will make your piece unique. And, the color will grab the attention of people from far away. If the piece of jewellery has a little sparkle, even better. This will glitz up any outfit and prepare it for a night out on the town.
Whatever you decide, statement jewellery must fit your personality. If you’re not already outgoing, these pieces could make you more so. Just be sure to find a piece of jewelry that you are comfortable with and remember to have fun trying on everything! Fashion is fun if you let it be instead of a daunting shadow following you around.
