Sugarbabes Split Up Will It Be Third Time Lucky!

Sugar babes

It has been nearly four years since Amelle Berrabah joined the SugarBabes back in 2005. But as a continuous pattern with the Sugarbabes they have split AGAIN!

The band was formed by Keisha Buchanan in 1998 along with friends Mutya Buena and Siobhan Donaghy. The Sugarbabes were doing well until the life of fame, bright lights, late nights took it’s toll on the group and Siobhan Donaghy left in 2001.

It was then in 2001 that Heidi Grange joined the group and they re-recorded the album and gave the Sugarbabes a whole new look. But over the next four years it went down hill for Mutya Buena and she left the group to then be replaced by Amelle Berrabah in 2005.

They then realeased their album Catfights and Spotlights, which did not make as many sales as they hoped nor did it get to no#1 in the Album charts. And so they started working with highly regarded artists and song writers to improve their latest album – their seventh album – Sweet 7, after signing to JayZ’s record lable Roc in March 2009. They worked with artists such as NeYo, RedOne, Stargate, Ryan Tedder, Fernando Garibay and the Smeezingtons as well as a contribution from Sean Kingston.

But as the Sugarbabes seem to like the number 3, and after 11 years and forming the Sugarbabes Keisha Buchanan decided enough was enough and left the group and shocked everyone as the rumours were that it was Amelle that left not Keisha. With Keisha out of the picture and happy with a reported six figure cheque, it was long before she was replaced by Jade Ewen – who sang in the Eurovision song contest in Moscow May 2009.

Jade Ewen

Jade is known for being a MOBO Award nominated singer and an actress. She began her career as Nala in the London West End Theatre production of The Lion King.

How long will the Sugarbabes stay together now and should they be called the Sugarbabes any more as none of the original members are present!!??
Could this be their third time lucky or should they quit whilst they’re ahead?

Their Album Sweet 7 is due for release in the United Kingdon on 23rd November 2009.
