We are giving you an insight to the world of Katy Perry.

We know her as Katy Perry, but her real name is Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson. Where did she get the surname Perry from? Well we can tell you… She got it from her mother. Her mother’s maiden name is Perry. She decided to take Perry instead of hudson to avoid being mistaken for Kate Hudson.

Katy’s career took off when she was spotted, at 15, singing in church. She signed to a christian music Label and released and album… which was UNSUCCESSFUL. Soon after she was snapped up by a bigger lable (columbia), who shelved her album before it was even completed. Even after these two whirlwind events that would make most people give up, but she tried for 3rd time lucky. And so she signed to Capitol Music Group and the rest is history.  She said ” I have been preparing for years, when you have all your ducks in one row you have to grab that lucky duck and hold onto it” .


Her first Single was a chart topper with it’s controversial lyrics, but since has proved she is not a one hit wonder.

After “Kissed a girl” she progressed to create more singles that had us loving her even more. But what is the talk of the town with her, are her outfits! She stated she will always wear a different outfit everytime she appears on stage. Her girlfriends are very happy to support it as they say ” you have worn that, can we have it”. Katy is very opinionated and in a world where you should do as your told, she makes sure she stands out. She hates how designers treat her, as they wont lend her something from their collection 3 seasons ago when she says ” that was your best collection, this season sucks!” He love of quirky clothes showed when she was presenting the 2008 MTV awards, changing into 12 different outfits. Recently she had a show where four children showed up dressed as bananas, she had then join her on stage for her “hot and cold” performace. She said, “it’s the most stupidest thing you have ever seen”.

But how does Katy keep things real? Firstly her cat is her substitute boyfriend she says she is over obsessed with her cat. She has iChat dates, she finds them fun!! Although she makes an interesting statement ” It’s pretty funny that I can’t go for dinner with someone and not be sleeping with them. That’s one of the unfair things.”


She is very close with her family and her youngest sister, Angela, goes with Katy when she is on the road. Katy has had celebrity spats, like her one with Lilly Allen. But after all the comotion, her statement attitude she makes a mental image in our brains.

She is one of 2009′s most exciting stars.
