I have had a love and dedicated interest in fashion and design since a young age. When I was about 7 or 8 I was shown by a good family friend how to make fabric dolls and cushions, from drawing the initial design, measurements then making the product and adding the finishing touches. She taught me so much at such a young age and I will be forever thankful. I learnt right there I wanted nothing but to work in Fashion. From then I was makings dolls, doing mini fashion shows in our hallway and playing with fabrics.
Of course at such a young age I still had school to focus on and sadly it did get pushed to the back of my mind, until in 2001 I had an operation and was off school for 8 months. After about a month of school work and TV I was finding other things to do when my mum pulled out the sewing maching, handed me some of her old clothes, bed sheets and table cloths. I started designing and making, shirts, dresses, skirts, bags and well the list is endless.
At the age of 16 I decided to leave college and persue a career, I was passionate about design but was not sure how to go about it. So I started working for a company who maunfactured cameras and ended up being a contact for many well known photographers. After seeing many fashion shoots come through as a display as to what the camera helped them achieve I decided I wanted to have my own Fashion Business. I took on small jobs to help me save for launching my own business. Over the years I finally ended up working for a company that supplied to Bridal companies, fashion houses across the world and many well known designers. After meeting with many face to face and working at the British Bridal Exhibition Harrogate for 2 years (4 shows) that was the final push I needed to take things to the next step.
I starting thinking up names for my fashion line and after days of brain storming I decided on AM Fashion Designs, which is better known as AMFD. Once I had this i set up a website and starting sourcing materials. I made friends with my sewing maching and jewellery tools and the rest is history.
Now for the past two years I have been designing clothing, lingerie and jewellery. I absolutely love what I do and would not change it for the world. I have so much passion for everything fashion and hope my designs will make people feel very happy and excited when wearing them just how I feel when I have a finished piece.
At AMFD I believe in having nothing but the finest quality in all my jewellery, clothing and lingerie. The AMFD range has been designed and created by myself Amy McGinty. I belive that fashion should be unique and be able to dress men and women of all sizes, keeping on top of the latest fashion trends. All of my products are only made once, making sure that you never suffer the "oh my god she has the same .... as me". I want my jewellery to stand out from the crowd and carry off the AMFD beliefs, my extensive range uses the highest quality glass beads, glass pearl and swarovski crystals allows you to have a piece of jewellery that compliements your personality.
I have been designing since 2007, and since then have grown and has now gone into the public eye. All my jewellery is made in house, as well as most of our collection which will come on board in the next few months.
I will also be designing an exclusive lingerie range for Courtney Gloss, and new and highly regarded lingerie company.
I like our work to be used to fund towards supporting various charities, at present i'm supporting Breast Cancer Care, Honey Rose Foundation and Foresters Fund for Children.
